Another Two-For

So this past weekend I took my brother Derek out to Vegas for a guys weekend. We met up with Richard(Fonix), Eric(Budah), Don, and Jeremy(Hodge).

We also met up with a buddy, Steve, from Aussie land and his sister. BTW are two of the best Aussie’s you will ever meet.

I had a great time, drinking it up, laying around the pool, and just relaxing. Gambled a bit, drank some more, hit up the Hofbrauhaus which is the best damn place in Vegas! If you are ever in Vegas I highly recommend hitting the Hofbrauhaus, it is pure sex!

Any ways had a great time, I highly recommend it for a "male bonding" experience.

Floppyhead.com had this article posted a couple days ago and after reading it over I am truly considering it. For a while now I’ve been posting about either building a HTPC and waiting for the Direct TV HDPC-20 to get released or fork over the money and purchase a pre-built OEM HTPC so that I can get digital cable card support.

Granted I severely despise comcast and their pricing structure, customer service, and lack of care for the customer, I also do not want to get into satellite tv either. But the thought of drastically reducing my monthly cost for TV has me very tempted to pull the trigger and move on something soon.

I currently pay damn near $165/month for Comcast tv and Internet services, and almost $40 of that monthly feed is just in hardware rental fees. I have two Comcast HD DVR’s and one SD cable box, the HD DVR’s are $13.95/month, and the single SD box is $6.95/month, so you can see what I would really want to get rid of them all together. If I could get away with just paying the monthly TV fee’s, and NOT have to pay the ridiculous hardware rental fee’s I’d be in heaven.

So now I just have to convince the powers that be (IE the WAF or THE WIFE) if I can sell my two old HTPC’s and come up with a little extra cash and purchase the HP box with cable card tuner, and then pick up two more refurb tuners from Sony, add a HD Homerun network ATSC/QAM tuner and I’d have myself a 5 tuner DVR with virtually limitless possibilities for tv viewing.

So until next time check out the deal for yourself…
