So today on twitter there was a slew of comments about Media Center, some mostly commenting about posts from Paul Thurrott calls media center a “stink bomb” then Chris Lanier talks about how even Microsoft themselves are moving away from direct focus on Media Center and more focusing on getting content to the TV.
I then went over to Brent Evans site, Geek Tonic, where he posted up his feelings on the whole situation. Brent goes on to talk about how Media Center has tons of potential, and that, “Microsoft still has yet to tap into that potential”. Paul T says “Microsoft has lost their way and that they’ve just simply never made it (Media Center) work.”
As an “bleeding heart” Media Center user, I think it works great…. fantastic even. I would even say it is the best DVR solution out there in terms of ease of use, functionality, features, and looks.
When it comes to Media Center, I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. I take that back, there are things I would change about it, however I would rather boast what it can currently do, and how someone no so tech savvy can use something like Media Center in their home.
Via Twitter Brent has asked me to “guest” blog on his website, and I just think I may have to take him up on that offer. I’ve been always meaning to do a series of write up’s about my home setup with Media Center, Windows Home Server, and how I use it in my every day life, features I use, how I use it, ect…
So maybe down the road here soon you might start to see some blog posts from me over at Geek Tonic. Until then feel free to comment on your thoughts about Media Center
