Big News for Media Center fan’s today: HD-PVR Support

So came back form some meetings today at work and saw a slew of news about HD-PVR support. Both Ian Dixon and Brent Evans posted up on their blogs about the newly support HD-PVR for Media Center.

For me personally this isn’t that huge as I no longer have cable tv, and no longer have a HD cable box to test this out on. Though I would LOVE to try this out and get premium content into my thpc once again. However for those out there that are rabbit HD fans, as well as Media Center fans, this is a great breakthrough that SageTV users (cough Brent) can no longer hold over our heads that Media Center doesn’t have HD-PVR support.

So now besides cable card, firewire, or R5000 mod, us Media Center users now have another avenue for native HD support.

  1. Well, I’ll still hold it over the MC guys heads until it’s supported natively. It is great news for MC fans no doubt, but there are some caveats that come with the 3rd party support…

Still, I’m going to try this out this weekend on my test PC that has Windows 7 running on it. My SageTV will feel lonely without the HD-PVR plugged into it though
